IPC Palembang received the Environmental Care Award

Palembang – Located at the Ballroom Hotel Excel, PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Persero) Palembang / IPC Palembang managed to get an award / category with the category “7 Outstanding Environmental Care Companies In South Sumatra”, IPC Palembang was chosen to be one of the seven Environmental Care companies in South Sumatra.

This award is a form of appreciation and recognition given for the concern as well as the real contribution of IPC Palembang to the community and the environment through the 2018 Community Development or Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. The valuation methodology used in awarding this award refers to several criteria, including: integrity, work ethic, mutual cooperation, application and observation programs carried out through website observation, social media, and activities in commercial and non-commercial communities, the results of which are real able to have a positive impact on the wider community.

The award was given directly by the Governor of South Sumatra, Mr. Herman Deru as a representative from the government and was received directly by the General Manager of IPC Palembang, Agus Edi Santoso, while expressed his gratitude, the General Manager stated that this was a form of motivation and encouragement for the Palembang Port Branch to continue to improve synergy with all stakeholders, to continue to contribute to society and the environment through various CSR programs. As a state-owned enterprise, IPC Palembang is not only pursuing profit, but also has the responsibility to be able to participate in empowering the community, especially the communities around the port working area. This is the third award obtained by IPC Palembang in the category of Environmental and Social Care. Previous awards were obtained in January 2019, in the 2019 Innovative Business Excellent Award for the category “The Company for Contributing Community Development of the Year 2019”, and in June 2019 in the Corsec Forum PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Persero) event for the category “The Best Community Development”.

So far, IPC Palembang has synergized with all stakeholders, starting from the regional government to the community around the port. Some programs are carried out by involving the local government and surrounding communities including IPC Palembang participating in the 2018 Asian Games by building shelters in the Jakabaring Sport City area, in addition to the Regional Government of Palembang IPC also synergizing with other BUMNs namely Perumnas and PT Perkebunan Nusantara VII in giving Eid gifts and compensation for 1,000 orphanages in the Safari Ramadhan 2019.

For the surrounding community, IPC Palembang also has several programs, including programs as a form of concern in the field of education, namely the ‘CINTA IPC Scholarship’ program, which aims to improve the quality of education of students in Palembang City, South Sumatra, especially in developing young people to have qualified soft skills and hard skills. Through this program as many as 50 students from high school / equivalent levels who are achievers but economically disadvantaged in addition to obtaining scholarship (pocket money) and school supplies will also be given soft skills education for 1 (one) year in the form of character building, leadership development and community empowerment. In addition to the educational scholarship program, IPC Palembang also has other environmental care programs such as renovating educational facilities and religious facilities as well as low-cost market programs.

“The form of social responsibility that we do is a manifestation of the implementation of one of the corporate values of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Persero), namely Nationalism. “The value of nationalism is manifested in the real form of the company in the success of the central government’s program, especially in the success of national development, one of which is in the form of a real contribution to the company’s social responsibility for the community,” concluded Agus Edi Santoso.
